Lighting consumes about 9% of all energy used in the United States. While light is a commodity we take for granted to be able to see, lighting is a tool or asset used to create our visual environment. Good lighting is critical to human health and productivity. Energy efficiency and lighting quality should go hand in hand in shaping effective energy policy. Current policies put all the emphasis on energy efficiency, at a potential cost of lost productivity and reduced human comfort and health. See how lighting can be optimized for energy efficiency, human comfort, and architectural expression, even in that most personal of spaces, our homes.
